Our Story
Planted 18 years ago, when I entered the wild, bewildering, and wonderful world of motherhood, was a small seed. As I journeyed through all that motherhood and parenting had to offer, that seed sprouted quietly in the background, capturing and absorbing special moments as nourishment for growth.
Over time, that seed grew into an idea: to create a business that weaves together my two greatest passions and inspirations, my children and nature.
THE HEART OF BADGER & BURROW
Born from a love of simple pleasures and meaningful play, Badger & Burrow celebrates childhood in its most natural form. We curate children’s gifts, toys, and homeware that encourage imagination, creativity, and time spent together, away from screens and closer to nature.
Our collection is thoughtfully chosen to inspire adventure and wonder, with a focus on quality, sustainability, and longevity. Each item is made to last, to be treasured, and to spark memories that will live on long after the toys have been tidied away.
At Badger & Burrow, we believe the best kind of play doesn’t need to be complicated, just a little curiosity, a touch of imagination, and the freedom to explore.
THE IMPORTANCE OF NATURE
When I think back to my childhood, my happiest memories are stitched together from moments spent outdoors, days beneath wide blue skies, splashing through puddles, and kicking up clouds of crisp autumn leaves. I remember wandering through fields and woodlands with no plan, no rush, just curiosity guiding me. Every sound, scent, and texture seemed alive, and those simple experiences became memories that have stayed with me ever since.
Nature has always had a way of grounding me, and now it does the same for my children. They spend their days exploring gardens buzzing with bees, chasing butterflies between rose bushes, and camping under starlit skies. I love watching them wake to the sunrise, the morning dew glistening at their feet, completely absorbed in the wonder of the world around them.
Without realising it, they’re learning, through touch, smell, sound, and sight, what it means to be part of nature. My hope is that, one day, these moments will become some of their most cherished memories too.
Encouraging my children to explore, respect, and delight in the outdoors fills me with joy. It’s this belief, that childhood should be filled with imagination, discovery, and a connection to the natural world, that inspired Badger & Burrow.
OUR NAME
Badger & Burrow was inspired by one of my favourite children’s books, The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame. Even now, as an adult, I can’t walk along a riverbank without imagining Rat and Mole sailing past in their little wooden boat, on their way to visit their wise friend, Badger.
Though the character of Badger in the story is an older, wiser gentleman, young badgers are playful, loyal, clumsy, and very family oriented, all traits I see in children. The plump, cuddly badger is a perfect symbol of nature and the wonders it holds. And the burrow? It needs little explanation, a place of safety, comfort, warmth, and love.
OUR MISSION
Encouraging children to embrace, explore, and learn about the beautiful world around them, even in the simplest of ways, brings me comfort and happiness. That’s exactly what we hope to do for you and your little ones here at Badger & Burrow.
By combining products that are essential for outdoor play with a range of sustainable items that minimise our footprint on this unique planet we call home, we hope to inspire families to spend more time exploring, learning, and, most importantly, planting memories that will last a lifetime.
